so at the end of the Seasons EP, I ask the question “Can I Live?”
This question is kinda a metaphor for being a unique individual in society, trying to make his way in the world. Let alone a black man. I asked this question because for me it often feels like I stand out in a crowd of people, I often feel eyes on me. I think I’m working on blending in a bit more, and practicing my invisibility spells, but then again… maybe I’m in the wrong rooms?
I feel like as I’ve gotten older and become more comfortable with myself, especially these past few years, I’ve been beginning to culminate a circle that really understands me. With my mental health struggles, I’ve definitely lost some friends along the road, and that has impacted me greatly. However, I’ve (arguably) never felt better than I do now, at the top of my life and moving forward. I feel like I know what I want, and know how to get it. So the question remains, can i live?
The premise of this song was a freestyle recorded at my homie Shaun’s crib over the summer of 2025 actually. I was kind of on a bender… nothing major, just I don’t smoke weed too often and got my hands on one of those darn pens. It created this day that I was so turnt and lit and excited about everything.. plus maybe an addy had me feelin right. I was rapping like a beast!
But I didn’t know how to edit the track, cause Shaun works with Logic and I just have no idea how to work it… well now I kinda do, but whatever.. The point being is that I laid down this freestyle over this phat beat he gave me, then when I was doing adlibs just decide to rip a second verse.
What came out was this psychedelic, schizophrenic rap song about making my way through the world and trying to harness as well as protect me energy.
